The American
Legion Department of Missouri offers Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarships in
USA. The students must be a member of The American Legion Family, i.e., Legion
Member, Auxiliary Member, S.A.L. Member or a descendant. Two awards of $500.00
each are awarded. Applicants must be unmarried dependent under the age of
21 and resident of Missouri. Students must have enrolled in the accredited
college /university in USA. Scholarship is given for first fall semester of a
college /university. Scholarship must be used the first fall semester of a
college /university following graduation from high
school. Applications should be sent by post till April 20, 2013.
Study Subject(s): The scholarship is provided to learn any of the courses offered by the
college/university at undergraduate level.

Eligibility:
- Applicant must have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard for a minimum of 90 days and received an Honorable Discharge. Photocopy of DD-214, Discharge or Separation papers must be included with application.
- Applicant must be enrolled or accepted, as a full time student, in an accredited vocational technical college, college or university in the state of Missouri. A letter from the institution must be attached to application.
- Applicant must be a resident of the state of Missouri.
- The scholarship must be used the following semester after it is awarded.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: The students of USA can apply for
this scholarship.
Scholarship Description: The $500.00 scholarship award will be paid at the beginning of the
student’s first semester at their college of choice. Registrar’s certification
of enrollment is required before payment will be made. A check will be issued
to joint payees, the recipient and the Scholarship and Awards Officer or
equivalent official at the school.

Selection Criteria: Consideration for scholarship will be determined annually for high
school graduates in NEED of financial aid to attend a college /
university.
